From the everyday experience of the city as a motor of movement, light and shadow, noise and hustle, beauty and decay, images emerge that linger in memory as a residual image of reality.
The work that arises from this takes shape from the accidental encounter between contemplative detachment and an ‘aesthetics of the muffler.’ The sound of the city is never far away, but always filtered through the fine dust of abstraction.
Formally, the paintings emerge from a constellation of impressions, experiences, and visual memories, but they are also interwoven with influences from painting, photography, film, and architecture.
Simultaneously implicit and concrete, associative and suggestive, abstract and narrative, the images can be viewed both individually and as parts of a whole, where one image becomes the condition for the next.
By rearranging them and seeking new combinations, new images can arise, the meaning of which can be further shaped by the viewer.
Ultimately, the original influences fade into the background, and the images represent not only a continuous exploration of form, color, and composition but also a constant reference to the idea of representation and the idea of experience itself.
